St. JOHN by Drake's Red Needlecord Five-Pocket Trousers
This is a five-pocket trouser cut from red needlecord, with the familiar pattern of workwear jeans translated into a softer, warmer cloth. The corduroy is a 10 wale cotton woven in Yorkshire, and the trousers are made up in Portugal. The cut is slim and straight through the leg with a mid-rise, so they can stand in for jeans or chinos alongside knitwear, flannel shirts or a casual jacket.

Stratton Wine Stretch Corduroy
We looked for a solid corduroy in a deep red, and the closest available was Proper Cloth's Stratton, a wine coloured cord woven in Spain. We set the design to the five-pocket pattern, with a coin pocket, belt loops, a flat front, a zip fly and a metal button, and finished the hem with a chain stitch. Proper Cloth offered no rigid 10 wale cord in this colour, so we accepted a slightly finer 13 wale with a small amount of stretch and a darker, more purple shade of red.
A Spanish woven 13 wale corduroy of 98% cotton and 2% elastane, weighing about 345 g and sitting in the medium to heavy range. It is a solid dark wine with a soft, velvety pile, and the small elastane content gives it some give in wear.
