Indigo Rinse 15.5oz Japanese Selvedge Denim Five-Pocket Jeans
Drake's five-pocket jean is cut from a 15.5oz Japanese selvedge denim, woven on shuttle looms and dyed with natural indigo in Fukuyama, then made up in Portugal. The pattern follows the classic jean but sits a little higher at the waist and runs relaxed through the thigh before tapering to the hem. Its front pockets are cut at a distinctive slant, with copper rivets at the stress points and concealed rivets behind the back pockets. It is pre-washed, so it holds its size from the start, and it is meant as a dependable everyday jean.

Dean Stretch Vintage Straight Jean in Japanese Raw Denim
We chose Proper Cloth's Japanese raw denim for its deep indigo and its solid, unwashed face, which is the closest of their denims to the rinse character of the original. We set a conventional five-pocket layout with a button fly, copper metal tack buttons, belt loops and gold thread, so the copper hardware and warm topstitching carry over. Proper Cloth offers no option for slanted front pockets, a leather waistband patch or hidden back-pocket rivets, so the pockets follow their standard jean shape. We took their vintage straight cut for its higher rise, which gives a straight leg where the original tapers.
A raw, unsanforised Japanese denim in a solid deep indigo twill, described as 12oz and blended with 2% elastane for a little give. It comes stiff and fully saturated, shrinks slightly on its first soak, and is meant to fade with wear to show the wearer's creases, with indigo likely to rub off onto pale fabrics early on.
