Grey Chalkstripe Wool Flannel Flat Front Trouser
A flat-front trouser in grey chalkstripe wool flannel, made in Italy and cut to Drake's mid-rise house pattern. The chalkstripe comes from traditional suiting, and here it is used for a trouser that can be worn alone or with the matching jacket as a suit. The leg is fairly slim and narrows gently below the knee. Inside, the finishing is quiet and careful: an extended tab front, a curtained waistband with an internal French bearer, and an after-dinner split at the back. It is a mid-weight cloth meant for wear through most of the year.

VBC Grey Chalkstripe Wool Flannel Dress Pant
We chose a grey chalkstripe merino flannel from Vitale Barberis Canonico because it is close to the original in colour, stripe and brushed surface. We matched the flat front, extended button tab, zip fly, belt loops, side seam pockets, buttoned rear pockets and brown horn buttons. Proper Cloth does not list a curtained waistband, French bearer, after-dinner split or prong keeper, so the design as made leaves these out. It also uses knee lining in place of half lining and has a plain, uncuffed hem finished to length.
A merino wool flannel in grey with a white chalkstripe, woven by Vitale Barberis Canonico in Biella, Italy. It is a medium-heavy cloth with a soft, brushed, slightly fuzzy finish. It suits the colder months best, and merino breathes well for a cloth of this weight.
