Lovat Cotton Drill Single Pleat Trouser
This is a single-pleated trouser cut in cotton drill, a sturdy twill long used for work and military clothing, here in lovat, a muted grey-green. It follows Drake's mid-rise house pattern, with one forward pleat to give room through the hip and a gentle taper below the knee. The waist is finished in a tailored way, with an extended tab, an internal French bearer, a curtained waistband and no belt loops. It is made in Italy, half-lined, and sold with unfinished hems so the length can be set by the wearer's tailor. It is meant for wear in any season, on its own or with the matching jacket.

Di Sondrio Pine Stretch Chinos
We looked for a solid green cotton twill of solid weight that would read as a casual trouser cloth, and chose a pine green from Tessuti di Sondrio as the nearest match to lovat. We kept the single pleat, the zip fly with button closure, the extended tab and the button-through rear pockets, and chose horn buttons in chestnut. Proper Cloth's chino pattern comes with belt loops, side seam pockets and a finished standard hem, so we took those in place of Drake's beltless tailored waist and unfinished hems. The cloth has 2% elastane, which is within our tolerance for stretch.
A solid pine green cotton twill from Tessuti di Sondrio, an Italian mill, with 2% elastane added for a little give. It is medium to heavy in weight, with a smooth, firm hand and enough body to hold a pleat. It is intended as a durable cloth for wear in all seasons.
