Navy Tropical Wool Flat Front Trouser
A plain navy trouser in lightweight tropical wool, cut to Drake's mid-rise house pattern with a flat front, a slimmer leg and a gentle taper below the knee. It draws on tailoring conventions, with an extended front tab, an internal French bearer, a curtained waistband and an after-dinner split at the back of the waist. It is made in Italy and half lined. It is meant for wear through the year, either on its own or as the trouser of a suit with a matching jacket.

VBC Navy Tropical Fresco Pants
We chose a solid navy fresco from Vitale Barberis Canonico because its open, high-twist plain weave is the closest Proper Cloth equivalent to a tropical wool. We kept the flat front, belt loops, zip fly and an extended button tab, and we left the hem plain without a turn-up. Proper Cloth offers side seam pockets rather than vertical frogmouth pockets, so we used those. Its knee lining replaces Drake's half lining, and the buttons are black faux horn instead of tonal navy.
A navy fresco woven in Biella by Vitale Barberis Canonico. It is a plain weave in pure wool at about 240 g with an open, porous structure and a dry, matte surface. The cloth breathes well in warm weather, and its springy, twisted yarns help it shed creases.
