Navy Tropical Merino Flat Front Trouser
This is Drake's navy flat-front trouser, cut in the house mid-rise and made in Italy as the lower half of a suit. The leg tapers gently below the knee for a clean, slim line, and the front is left plain. The construction is quietly tailored, with an extended tab, French bearer buttoning, a curtained waistband, a split at the back of the waistband and a prong keeper to hold a belt buckle. It is half lined, cut in a light tropical cloth for wear through most of the year, and sent out with the hems unfinished so they can be set to the wearer's length.

VBC Navy Tropical Fresco Pants
We chose a navy fresco from Vitale Barberis Canonico because it is a solid, open plain-weave wool that comes closest to the dry, breathable feel of a tropical suiting. We matched the flat front, belt loops, extended button tab with zip fly, dark horn-effect buttons and vertical side pockets, and left the hem plain with no turn-up. The French bearer, curtained waistband, rear split and prong keeper are not part of the specification as made, and Proper Cloth's knee lining stands in for Drake's half lining.
A navy wool fresco woven in Biella by Vitale Barberis Canonico, in an open plain weave at 240 g. It has a dry, matte surface and lets air through readily, so it wears cool in warm weather and holds its shape well enough for suiting.
