Ecru Cotton Canvas Carpenter Pant
A carpenter trouser in heavy ecru cotton canvas, made in Portugal. The design draws on the work trousers once made for the workshop, with reinforced double knees, twin-needle seams and rivets at the points that take the most strain. The leg is straight and the rise sits at the middle, so it can stand in for jeans in a quieter, paler cloth.

Natural Undyed Canvas 5-Pocket Pant
We chose an undyed, unfinished 12oz cotton canvas woven in Portugal, whose natural ecru shade and rigid body come close to the Drake's cloth. We kept the button fly, belt loops, metal hardware, flat front and straight, uncuffed leg. Proper Cloth does not offer a carpenter pattern with double knees or a utility pocket, so we settled on its five-pocket jeans cut with patch back pockets and a coin pocket, in the high-rise straight fit.
A plain-weave cotton canvas from Portugal at around 12oz, left undyed and untreated, so it keeps the warm off-white of unbleached cotton. It is firm and rigid with no stretch, and should soften and take on creases with wear and washing. The listing gives the fibre as cotton with a large share of recycled cotton.
