Putty Cotton Wide Leg Double-Pleat Shorts
A pair of warm-weather shorts cut from a midweight Italian chino twill, made in Portugal. They are built on the same block as the house chino trousers, so they sit mid-to-high on the waist and keep a wide leg with two forward pleats at the front. Real horn buttons and a zip fly finish them. The cut is tailored in its proportions but meant for relaxed summer wear.

Di Sondrio Khaki Heavyweight Heirloom Chino
We chose a dense, very heavy khaki cotton twill from Tessuti di Sondrio, the closest solid chino cloth to the original's putty twill, though it is considerably heavier. We matched the double pleats, high rise, wide leg, belt loops, zip fly and horn buttons. Proper Cloth offered side seam pockets rather than slanted front pockets, charcoal horn rather than black, and the piece is recorded as a chino with a wide hem, not specifically as shorts.
A heavyweight 3-ply cotton twill woven in Italy by Tessuti di Sondrio, listed at 535 g, with a dense weave and a smooth finish. It is a solid khaki, modelled on mid-century military officer chinos, and should wear hard and soften slowly over time.
