Ecru Irish Linen Single Pleat Trouser
This is the trouser half of Drake's Irish linen suit, cut from a soft linen woven and dyed in Ireland and made up in Italy. It is a tailored summer trouser with a single forward pleat, an extended tab front and side adjusters in place of belt loops. Inside, a curtained waistband, an internal French bearer and half lining give it the finish of a suit trouser. It is meant to be worn with its matching jacket or alone in warm weather, and it is supplied unhemmed so the length can be set to the wearer.
In Proper Cloth
Portuguese Ivory Linen Palermo Pant
We chose a Portuguese ivory linen in a plain weave because it is the closest pale, undyed-looking solid linen Proper Cloth offers to Drake's ecru Irish cloth. We made it up as a tailored trouser rather than Proper Cloth's usual drawstring style, setting a single pleat, a button-through extended tab, a zip fly and mid brown horn buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth has no side adjuster option for this model, so we used belt loops, and we chose side seam pockets as the nearest match to the vertical front pockets. The hem is finished to a standard length rather than left open.
A 100% linen plain weave woven in Portugal, listed as medium weight, with a soft hand and the irregular slubbed texture typical of linen. It is a solid ivory, and it creases readily in wear, settling into a relaxed, lived-in look.
