Tan Mid-Wale Corduroy Flat Front Trouser
Drake's cuts this trouser in a mid-wale cotton corduroy and builds it on their mid-rise house pattern, with a flat front and a gentle taper below the knee. The idea is a tailored trouser made in a casual cloth. It borrows its waistband from formal trousers: an extended front tab, an internal French bearer, a curtained lining and a split at the back of the waistband. Made in Italy and half lined, it is meant to be worn through the year, and it can also be ordered with pleats or as part of a suit.

Stratton Hazel Stretch Corduroy
We picked a hazel 13-wale cotton corduroy because its warm mid-brown and visible rib are close to the tan of the original. We kept the flat front, belt loops, zip fly with button closure and buttoned rear pockets, and chose mid brown horn buttons to match the original's horn-tone fastening. Proper Cloth builds this in its chino pattern, so we took side seam pockets in place of slanted ones and a standard chino waistband in place of the extended tab, French bearer and curtaining. The hem comes finished with a blind stitch rather than unfinished.
A Spanish corduroy called Stratton. It is a 13-wale cord of 98% cotton and 2% elastane, weighs about 345 g, and has a soft, velvety pile. It is a plain hazel brown, heavy enough for autumn and winter, and the small amount of stretch makes it a little more comfortable to wear.
