Tan Mid-Wale Corduroy Single Pleat Trouser
Drake's cuts this trouser in its mid-rise house shape from a tan mid-wale cotton corduroy, a cloth long associated with country and weekend dress. A single forward pleat gives room through the hip and thigh, and the leg tapers gently below the knee to a clean line. The waist follows tailoring practice, with an extended tab, side adjusters in place of belt loops and an internal French bearer, so it can be worn without a belt. It is made in Italy, half lined, and sold with unfinished hems so the length can be set by a tailor.

Stratton Hazel Stretch Corduroy
We chose a solid hazel corduroy because it is close to the original's warm tan and has a comparable wale, so the colour and the ribbed surface carry over. We kept the single pleat, side seam pockets, zip fly and a buttoned tab at the waist, and finished it with mid brown horn buttons to echo the original's waistband button. Proper Cloth's chino pattern comes with belt loops, not side adjusters, and offers no after-dinner split or half lining, so the waist is plainer than the original's tailored construction. The cloth also has a little elastane, which the all-cotton original does not.
Stratton Hazel is a 13-wale corduroy woven in Spain from 98% cotton and 2% elastane, at about 345 g, which puts it at the heavier end of mid-weight. It has a soft, velvety pile in a solid hazel brown with some depth to the colour, and the small amount of stretch gives a little give at the seat and knee. It is best suited to autumn and winter.
