Brown Corduroy Painter Pants
Drake's painter pants are a brown corduroy trouser based on the work clothes once worn by decorators and tradesmen. The cut is generous, with a high rise and plenty of room through the thigh and knee before a gentle taper to the hem. Workwear details such as bar-tacked rear pockets, a side tool pocket and a coin pocket are kept, while tonal stitching and clean finishing keep the overall look restrained. They are made in Portugal and suit casual wear in town as well as at work.

Stratton Hazel Stretch Corduroy
We chose a solid hazel corduroy from Proper Cloth's range because it was the nearest match to the original's warm brown and ribbed surface. We kept the slanted front pockets, patch back pockets, belt loops and coin pocket so the trousers read as close to the original as the chino pattern allows. Proper Cloth does not offer a side tool pocket or a painter cut, and this version has a zip fly, so it is a plainer, chino-based take on the painter trouser.
Stratton Hazel is a 13-wale corduroy woven in Spain from 98% cotton and 2% elastane. It weighs about 345 g, has a soft, velvety pile and a warm mid-brown colour, and the small amount of stretch gives a little extra comfort in wear. It is a heavier cloth best suited to autumn and winter.
