Charcoal Tropical Wool Flat Front Trouser
This is Drake's flat-front house trouser, cut at a mid-rise and made in Italy from a high-twist tropical merino in solid charcoal. The flat front gives a slimmer line, and the leg narrows gently below the knee. The waist is finished with tailoring details: an extended tab, an internal French bearer, a curtained waistband, a prong keeper for the belt and an after-dinner split at the rear. The light, open cloth suits warm weather and also wears well through most of the year. It can be worn on its own or with the matching jacket as a suit.

Loro Piana Fabric Grey Melange Tropical Wool Dress Pant
We chose a Loro Piana tropical wool in solid grey because it is the closest Proper Cloth equivalent to Drake's high-twist worsted, although the shade is lighter and slightly mottled where the original is a flat charcoal. We matched the visible details: a flat front, belt loops, an extended button tab, a zip fly, vertical side-seam pockets and dark grey horn buttons. Proper Cloth offers knee lining rather than a half lining, so we used a striped knee lining. The trouser is finished without cuffs, whereas Drake's sells its version unhemmed. The design does not specify a curtained waist, French bearer or after-dinner split, so we do not claim those details here.
The cloth is Loro Piana's Zelander Dream tropical wool, made entirely of wool. Proper Cloth lists it as a medium-weight twill, while its own description calls the weave open and breathable. The surface is very smooth with almost no visible texture, in a cool grey with slight melange variation. It is made for warm weather and looks a little less formal than a flat solid.
