Navy Herringbone Cotton Fatigue Shorts
These are fatigue shorts that take their design from mid-century military uniform. Their utility details are reinforced vertical front pockets with copper rivets and a metal shank button. They have a high rise that sits just above the hip and a full leg, which gives the older, roomier shape of the period. They are cut from a sturdy Italian herringbone cotton that softens with washing, and they are made to be worn casually through the warmer months.

Faded Navy Fatigue Pant
We kept the navy colour, the weight and the utility build of the original, and chose a Japanese reverse sateen in faded navy for its slightly rustic surface, because Proper Cloth does not offer a matching herringbone in this style. We used the vintage chino cut for the high rise and set fatigue front pockets, a fatigue back pocket, a zip fly, metal tack buttons and belt loops, with no pleats. Proper Cloth makes this style as full-length trousers rather than shorts, so we chose a wide hem to keep the full leg of the original.
This is a Japanese reverse sateen of 325 g, a medium heavyweight cloth in a faded navy with a slightly irregular, rustic surface rather than a flat, even colour. It is 98% cotton with 2% elastane, which adds a little give, and it is suited to hard casual wear.
