Indigo Rinse 14.2oz Japanese Selvedge Denim Tailored Fit Five-Pocket Jeans
A five-pocket jean in rinsed indigo denim from Okayama, woven on shuttle looms and dyed with natural indigo. It follows the familiar Western work pattern, but is cut with a mid rise and a straight leg narrower than Drake's classic fit. Copper rivets, slanted front pockets and rivets hidden inside the back pockets give it a quieter finish than a standard workwear jean. It is pre-washed and made in Portugal, so it can be worn dark and clean or left to fade with time.

Dean Stretch Slim Jean in Rinse Wash Japanese Denim
We chose Proper Cloth's darkest Japanese denim, a rinse wash indigo, because it comes closest to the deep, unfaded colour of the original. We kept the five-pocket layout, the button fly, the copper hardware and the belt loops, and added a chain stitch hem and gold seam thread in keeping with traditional jean construction. Proper Cloth's denim is lighter at 12oz and has a small amount of elastane, and its page does not describe it as selvedge, so we accepted those points as the nearest available option. We chose its slim cut, made to measure, to come close to the narrower straight leg of the original.
A Japanese denim woven and dyed in Japan, 98% cotton with 2% elastane, at around 12oz. It is given a light enzyme wash after sewing, which softens it a little while keeping a deep, dark indigo, and it should go on softening with wear.
