Ecru 12.7oz Selvedge Denim Patchless Five-Pocket Jeans
A pair of five-pocket jeans in undyed ecru selvedge denim, woven in Italy and made up in Portugal. The cut follows a classic pattern with a slightly higher rise and a relaxed leg that narrows towards the hem. Copper rivets, gold-toned stitching and slanted front pockets set it apart from a standard pair, and there is no leather patch at the back waistband. Its pale colour lets it sit as a neutral with knitwear, chambray or tailored jackets in warmer months.

Cody Stretch Vintage Straight Jean in Cream Japanese Denim
We chose a cream Japanese denim from Nihon Menpu as the nearest match to the ecru colour and the dry, structured hand of the original. We set gold thread throughout to echo the contrast stitching, and specified a zip fly, metal tack buttons, belt loops, a coin pocket and patch back pockets to keep the five-pocket build. Proper Cloth offers a conventional five-pocket front rather than slanted pockets, and its Vintage Straight fit has a higher rise but a straighter leg than the original's taper, so we accepted both. We also finished the hem with a chain stitch.
A 14oz denim woven in Japan by Nihon Menpu in an off-white cream, made from 98% cotton with 2% elastane. It feels dry and substantial and holds a stiff, structured shape, with the small elastane content giving a little ease as it wears in.
