Charcoal Wool Flannel Single Pleat Trouser
Drake's treats this as its house trouser: a single reverse pleat, a mid-rise and a clean leg that tapers gently without becoming slim. The cloth is a superfine Merino flannel woven in Somerset, and the trousers are made in Italy. The waistband has side adjusters instead of belt loops, an extended tab with an internal French bearer and curtaining inside. They are half-lined to the knee, have an after-dinner split at the back and are sent out with unfinished hems so that they can be tailored to length. They are meant as an everyday flannel trouser to wear with tailoring or knitwear.

VBC Charcoal Wool Flannel Dress Pant
We chose a plain charcoal merino flannel from Vitale Barberis Canonico because it comes closest to the Drake's cloth in colour, fibre and brushed surface. We set a single pleat, an extended button tab over a zip fly, dark grey horn buttons and a knee lining to follow the original's construction. Our design has belt loops rather than side adjusters, and the after-dinner split and curtained waistband are not part of the specification shown.
This is a solid charcoal flannel in 100% merino wool, woven by Vitale Barberis Canonico in Biella, Italy. At around 340 g it is a medium-heavy cloth. It has a soft, brushed hand and suits cooler months, and its napped surface keeps the colour looking even.
