Black Wool Shawl Collar Tuxedo Trousers
Drake's made these black wool trousers to wear with its shawl collar tuxedo jacket. They follow the traditional pattern of evening trousers, with a grosgrain stripe down each outer seam, an extended front tab and buttons for braces. Inside and at the back they take details from bespoke tailoring: French bearer buttoning, a curtained waistband and a split at the rear of the waist. They are made in Italy and sold unhemmed so that the length can be finished to suit the wearer.

Mayfair Black Wool Tuxedo Pant
We chose a black merino twill because it matches the original's cloth, colour and smooth, plain surface. We set the cut to match with single pleats, an extended button tab, brace buttons, vertical side-seam pockets and a plain hem. Proper Cloth's build differs in the waistband, which has belt loops, and in the back, which has a buttoned rear pocket. The specification does not list a grosgrain stripe, a curtained waist or an after-dinner split. Inside, we used a striped lining to the knee in place of Drake's half lining.
A black twill in S110s merino wool from the Dino Filarte mill, woven in China and weighing about 270 grams. It has a smooth, clean finish and a deep black colour. It is a mid-weight suiting cloth that can be worn in most seasons.
