Black Linen Drawstring Shorts
Drake's black linen drawstring shorts take their lead from mid-century American athletic and sportswear, where a pull-on waist and simple pocketing served a practical end. They are cut from a washed Italian linen of moderate weight and sit at a high rise, ending above the knee. A flat drawstring waist, slanted front pockets and a single buttoned rear welt pocket give them a plain, utilitarian character. They are meant for warm weather, in town or by the sea.

Black Linen Palermo Drawstring Pant
We chose a solid black plain-weave linen of medium weight, which comes closest to the dense, washed linen of the original in colour and surface. We set an elasticated drawstring waistband, angled side pockets, no pleats and a buttoned rear pocket to follow the Drake's layout. Proper Cloth's Palermo is a trouser, so this version is full length rather than a short, and it is finished with a zip fly and charcoal horn buttons where the original has a mother of pearl button. Proper Cloth does not list an exact weight for the cloth, so we judged the match on its stated medium weight.
A 100% linen woven in Portugal in a plain weave, solid black and of medium weight. The surface shows the natural slub of linen and the hand is soft, as if already washed. It creases readily in wear and drapes loosely.
