Sand Irish Linen Single Pleat Trouser
This is the trouser half of a summer linen suit, cut in a soft Irish linen that is woven and dyed in Ireland and then made up in Italy. The sand colour was developed as one of a small set of shades intended for warm-weather suiting. Its tailoring is that of a dress trouser: a single forward pleat, an extended tab front, a curtained waist with an internal French bearer, and side adjusters in place of belt loops. It can be worn with the matching jacket or on its own, and it ships with unfinished hems so the length can be set for each wearer.
In Proper Cloth
Beige Linen Palermo Pant
We chose a beige Portuguese pure linen in a plain weave because it is the closest Proper Cloth cloth to the soft, sand-coloured Irish linen of the original. We then made it up as a dress trouser rather than as the casual drawstring style the cloth normally comes in. We matched the single pleat, the button-through extended tab, the zip fly and the dark horn buttons. Proper Cloth offered belt loops where the original has side adjusters, and side seam pockets where the original has vertical front pockets. We took both, and we finished the legs with a blind hem.
This is a pure linen woven in Portugal in a plain weave, in a warm, solid beige. The cloth is soft from the start, and its weight sits between light and medium. The plain weave lets the natural slub of the linen show. It breathes well and creases readily, so it settles into a relaxed, lived-in look as it is worn.
