Michael McGregor for Drake's Fawn Drawstring Shorts
Drake's made this short as part of a limited collaboration with the artist Michael McGregor. The colour comes from a palette built around sun-faded stone and old paper. The cut draws on mid-century athletic shorts, with a high rise, a flat drawstring waist and pockets taken from American sportswear. It is a warm-weather piece made in Portugal from a light, washed cotton drill.

Di Sondrio Beige Heavyweight Heirloom Chino
We chose a plain beige cotton twill from Tessuti di Sondrio because it comes close to the fawn colour of the original and has the same solid, twill-woven surface. We matched the parts that define the original: an elasticated drawstring waistband, angled front pockets, no pleats and a high, loose cut. The design as made has a standard hem, a zip fly and horn buttons, so it is a full-length chino rather than a short. The cloth is far heavier and smoother than Drake's stone-washed drill, so it does not have the original's softened, washed look.
A very heavy 100% cotton twill from Tessuti di Sondrio in Italy, woven densely from three-ply yarns and finished smooth, at a stated weight of 535 g. It is a solid beige, based on the officers' chinos of the Second World War era, and is made to be hard-wearing over many years.
