White Linen Spread Collar Shirt

This is a casual long-sleeved shirt in white linen, made in Somerset. It takes the plain linen shirt and gives it a spread collar that sits well open or closed. Brushed floating interlining in the collar and cuffs keeps them soft without letting them go limp, and the shirt is sewn with single-needle seams. It has a regular fit and can be worn on its own in warm weather or under a jacket.

Baird McNutt White Irish Linen

We chose a bright white Irish linen, a lightweight plain weave with the slightly irregular surface that the original's textured linen also shows. We set a soft English spread collar, soft one-button barrel cuffs, a front placket, a single chest pocket and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth's own construction options take the place of Drake's brushed floating interlining, and its shallow curved hem stands in for the straight hem.

A lightweight 100% linen plain weave in bright white, woven and finished by Baird McNutt in Northern Ireland, at a 26s yarn count. It feels soft but crisp, with the uneven slubbed texture typical of linen, and it wears cool and breathable in heat.

Care
Though it’s historically been used in many different environments for its insulating properties, we’re all familiar with linen’s fantastic lightness and breathability in hotter climates, and this one delivers beyond expectation. Finish: No Treatment.
