Ecru Cotton-Linen Two-Pocket Long Point Collar Work Shirt
This is a work shirt in a light cotton and linen twill, drawn from the plain utility shirts worn in workshops and on the land. Drake's cut it on their relaxed casual block and gave it a long point collar, two flap pockets on the chest and a curved hem. It is meant to be worn loose and untucked at the weekend, or open over a T-shirt as a light layer in warm weather. It is made in Portugal with single-needle stitching and mother of pearl buttons.
In Proper Cloth
Thomas Mason White Cotton and Linen Blend
We looked for a lightweight cotton and linen twill in a plain light colour and chose a Thomas Mason blend, which has a slightly higher share of linen and a little visible slub. Proper Cloth did not offer an ecru in this cloth, so we used its white. We matched the one-button barrel cuffs, front placket, curved hem and mother of pearl buttons, and kept two chest pockets. The collar was made as a soft point because no long point was offered, and the pockets were made in a western style rather than as plain flap patch pockets.
A Thomas Mason twill of 71% cotton and 29% linen, woven from 100s two-ply yarns. It is light and breathable but not fragile, a plain bright white with a touch of linen slub in the surface, and it should soften and crease a little with wear in the way linen blends do.
