Black Denim Two-Pocket Western Shirt
Drake's takes the familiar Western shirt and makes it in black cotton denim, using its usual single-needle construction and corozo buttons. The cloth is dyed and washed so that it softens and takes on a patina over years of use. Pointed front yokes with edge stitching, a pair of flapped chest pockets and three-button barrel cuffs keep the Western pattern intact. The shirt is made in Italy and works as a sturdy shirt on its own or as a light overshirt.

Albiate Washed Black Denim
We chose a washed black denim from Albiate, the Italian mill, because it matches the original's black colour, cotton make-up and medium weight, and its garment wash gives a similar softened, slightly faded surface. We then set the Western front, Western pockets, Western yoke, a curved hem and corozo buttons to follow the original's layout. Proper Cloth's options led us to a soft point collar in place of the long pointed Western collar, two-button cuffs in place of three, and natural corozo buttons rather than the smoky grey ones.
A single-ply denim woven in Italy by Albiate from 60s cotton yarns, of medium weight and with a soft hand and easy drape. It is a solid black, and the shirt is given a light enzyme wash after sewing that keeps the colour deep while leaving gentle fading and puckering along the placket and seams.

- We give this fabric a gentle enzyme wash that removes less dye, resulting in a saturated black with subtle fading and puckering along the placket and seams. From sourcing the perfect denim from a 185-year-old mill in Italy to testing washes with our factory for months on end, we labor over every detail of our washed indigo shirts. After being cut and sewn, the shirts are then garment washed using either a light enzyme, soda, or bleaching process. While garment washed indigo and denim shirts are a popular product in the ready-to-wear market, they haven't previously been available in a custom fit or design due to the bulk production required for the washing process. We've worked closely with our suppliers to bring you the first truly custom garment washed indigo and denim shirts on the market. Premium, carefully crafted shirts, made to your exact specifications.
