Blue Cotton Long Point Collar Work Shirt
A plain blue work shirt in a lightweight cotton drill, made in Italy from Yorkshire cloth that has been peached for a soft surface. It is meant for practical use, with two flap chest pockets for small items and a curved hem that can be worn tucked or untucked. The finishing follows Drake's usual shirtmaking: a long point collar and rounded cuffs with soft floating interlinings, single-needle seams and fisheye corozo buttons.
In Proper Cloth
Washed Blue Lightweight Oxford
We chose a washed lightweight oxford in a solid mid blue, because it is close to the original's colour and its soft, broken-in hand is near to that of a peached drill. Proper Cloth does not offer the same drill, so the weave here is oxford rather than twill. We matched the one-button barrel cuffs, front placket, two chest pockets, curved hem and corozo buttons, and used soft constructions for the collar and cuffs to follow the floating interlinings. A long point collar was not an option, so we used Proper Cloth's soft point collar, and we used utility pockets for the flap pockets.
A lightweight 100% cotton oxford woven from 40s two-ply yarns in a solid mid blue, with an open weave that breathes well in warm weather. It is washed after weaving, so it feels soft from the first wear, and like most oxford it keeps its fine texture and softens further with washing. Proper Cloth does not name the mill.
