Bleach Wash Cotton-Linen Long Point Collar Work Shirt

Drake's work shirt takes its cue from plain utility shirting and cuts it in a light cotton and linen chambray, washed and bleached so the blue fades unevenly. Two button-flap chest pockets and twin-button cuffs come from the workwear tradition, while a long point collar pulls it towards tailoring. It is made in Somerset with single-needle seams and corozo buttons, and is meant to be worn loosely, open over a T-shirt or buttoned with summer trousers.

Blue Chambray Washed Linen

We chose a washed linen chambray because its mixed blue yarns and slubby surface give the same faded, uneven colour as the bleach-washed original. We kept the point collar, front placket, two-button cuffs, two buttoned flap chest pockets and corozo buttons. Proper Cloth has no mitred flap pocket, so we used its western pockets, the nearest buttoned flap style, and a shallow curved hem stood in for the shirttail.

The cloth is a lightweight plain-weave chambray in pure linen, woven from 14s single-ply yarns; Proper Cloth does not name the mill. It has a soft, slubby hand, with several shades of blue and light blue running through the yarns. It breathes well in warm weather and creases easily.
