Indigo Ramie Camp Collar Short Sleeve Shirt
Drake's short-sleeved camp collar shirt belongs to the long line of holiday shirts. These have been cut many ways and called many things, but the idea has always been a simple shirt for hot weather. The design is kept deliberately plain: an open collar, a plain front, short sleeves and a square, straight hem, in a loose fit meant to be worn untucked. It is made in Portugal from ramie, a strong plant fibre that keeps its shape and resists creasing, finished here with a soft hand and a slight sheen.

In Proper Cloth
Baird McNutt Slate Blue Irish Linen
We could not find ramie among Proper Cloth's cloths, so we chose a lightweight plain-weave Irish linen. Linen is the nearest bast fibre and wears much as ramie does in the heat. Ramie in a deep indigo was not available either, so we chose a solid slate blue as the closest shade. We set Proper Cloth's soft one-piece collar to give the open camp collar, a French front for the plain front, short sleeves, a straight hem, a single square patch pocket and mother-of-pearl buttons, all to match the original.
A fine, lightweight plain-weave linen, woven and finished by Baird McNutt in Northern Ireland, in a solid slate blue. It is soft, with the slightly uneven surface typical of linen, and it breathes well in warm weather. It will crease and soften with wear.
