Red and White Stripe Linen Camp Collar Short Sleeve Shirt
This is Drake's version of the camp-collar holiday shirt, a short-sleeved shirt for warm weather that has gone by many names over the decades. The design is kept deliberately simple: an open one-piece collar, a plain front, a square straight hem and a loose cut. Drake's makes it in Somerset from a soft, lightweight linen in a narrow red and white stripe, with mother-of-pearl buttons, as a shirt for the hottest weeks of summer, worn untucked and open at the neck.

Stanton 120s Red Bengal Stripe
We looked for a red and white stripe of similar scale and found it in a fine cotton broadcloth bengal stripe, since a linen in this colouring and stripe was not available to us. We matched the shape of the shirt: a soft one-piece collar, short sleeves, a French front to keep the front plain, a single square patch pocket on the chest, a straight hem and mother-of-pearl buttons. The cotton gives the shirt a smoother, crisper finish than the original's loose linen, so this version reads a little neater and less textured.
Stanton is a European-woven broadcloth in 120s two-ply cotton, very light in weight, with a smooth, crisp hand and almost no surface texture. This one has a red and white bengal stripe a little wider than a pencil stripe. It creases more readily than a twill but irons well, and it can also be worn washed and unpressed for a softer look.
