Red Bengal Stripe Cotton Poplin Button-Down Shirt
Drake's makes this button-down in a red and white Bengal stripe cotton poplin at its factory in Somerset. The design keeps to the traditional pattern of the striped Oxford-style shirt, with a soft, unlined-feeling collar, a single chest pocket and a box pleat at the back. The light, smooth cloth has a slight sheen and holds its shape well, so the shirt can be worn under a jacket on weekdays or on its own at the weekend.

Stanton 120s Red Bengal Stripe
We chose a red and white Bengal stripe in a lightweight two-ply cotton broadcloth, since its smooth, flat surface and stripe width come close to the Drake's poplin. We set a soft button-down collar, front placket, one-button barrel cuffs, a split yoke and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth offered an angled chest pocket where Drake's uses a point pocket, and the specification as made lists no box pleat at the back.
A 120s two-ply cotton broadcloth woven in Europe, very light in weight, with a smooth, crisp hand and almost no visible texture. Red and white Bengal stripes run a little wider than a pencil stripe. It creases more readily than a twill or pinpoint, but irons well and can also be worn unironed after washing.
