Pink and Blue Check Cotton Two-Pocket Long Point Collar Work Shirt
Drake's cut this work shirt on its casual block, drawing on the plain utility of workwear and making it suitable for everyday dress. It is made in Italy from a pure cotton twill check in pink, pale blue and ecru, and has a long point collar and two flapped chest pockets. Mother of pearl buttons and single-needle seams give it a finer finish than a typical workwear shirt. It is meant to be worn loose and untucked, at work or at the weekend.
In Proper Cloth
Satoyama Sky Slate and Salmon Plaid
We chose Proper Cloth's Satoyama flannel in sky, slate and salmon because its soft pinks and blues come closest to the colours of the original check. Its heathered, low-contrast plaid has a quieter look than the Drake's twill check. We matched the main details: twin western-style flap pockets, a one-button barrel cuff, a front placket, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. Proper Cloth has no collar matching the Drake's long point, so we used its soft point collar instead, and the shirt is built with a one-piece yoke and quarter-inch edge stitching.
Satoyama is a brushed cotton flannel woven from 40s yarns, which Proper Cloth describes as lighter than most winter flannels. Its heathered yarns, each spun from several shades, give the sky, slate and salmon plaid a muted, low-contrast look. It feels soft without being bulky, so it can be worn from autumn through to spring.
