Yellow Bengal Stripe Cotton Poplin Button-Down Shirt
A button-down shirt in a smooth, light cotton poplin with yellow and white Bengal stripes, made at the Drake's factory in Somerset. Its construction is traditional: a collar with a brushed, floating interlining, a split inner yoke beneath a one-piece outer yoke, a box pleat at the back and whipped mother of pearl buttons. The cloth has a soft hand and a slight sheen, and the shirt is intended to serve equally well at the office and at the weekend.

Washed Yellow Stripe Lightweight Oxford
We chose a lightweight striped oxford in pale yellow, keeping the yellow and white stripe and the light weight but accepting the oxford weave in place of poplin. It has been washed for a soft finish, which goes some way towards the soft hand of the original. We set a button-down collar, a soft one-button barrel cuff, a soft front placket, a split yoke, a shallow curved hem and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth offered an angled pocket rather than a point pocket, so that is what this version has, and the made-to-order design does not list a back box pleat.
A 100% cotton oxford woven from 40s yarns, lighter and more breathable than a standard heavy oxford, and washed so that it feels soft and broken in from the first wear. It carries a pale yellow stripe on white, with the slight texture typical of oxford cloth, and should soften further with washing.
