Blue Check Heavy Cotton Two-Pocket Work Shirt
Drake's work shirt is a heavy, brushed cotton shirt cut along the lines of traditional outdoor workwear. It is finished to the same standard as the house's dress shirting. The design keeps to practical details: two buttoned chest pockets, a spread collar and rounded cuffs that let the shirt move easily. It is meant for casual use, worn on its own or as a light outer layer, and it is made in Somerset, England.
In Proper Cloth
Jackson Orange and Brown Country Plaid
We looked for a heavyweight cotton twill with a large plaid, so the new shirt would have the weight and the bold check of the original. Proper Cloth had no brushed blue, brown and ecru plaid of this kind. We chose a slubby orange and brown country plaid from Portugal, which keeps the bulk and the rustic surface but changes the colour. We matched the spread collar, the one-button barrel cuffs, the front placket, the curved hem, the corozo buttons and the two flap chest pockets. Proper Cloth's rounded flap pockets have no pleat, and the shirt was made with a split yoke.
The cloth is a heavyweight 100% cotton twill woven in Portugal from thick 10s yarns. The slub in the yarn gives it a rough, uneven texture. It has a large plaid in orange and brown, and it should wear as a hard-wearing, casual cloth for cold weather.
