Navy Gingham Check Block Print Cotton Camp Collar Short Sleeve Shirt
Drake's short-sleeved camp collar shirt follows the long line of open-necked holiday shirts made for hot weather. It is a deliberately plain design, with a neat open collar, a loose cut, a plain front and a square hem. The cloth is a light, soft cotton hand block-printed with a navy and ecru check, and the shirt is made in Portugal. It is meant to be worn untucked in high summer.

Seabrook Dark Navy Medium Gingham Poplin
We chose a very lightweight Seabrook cotton in dark navy gingham because it is the closest match to the original's navy check in a summer-weight cotton. The gingham is woven and white, so the shirt has crisp, regular squares on a brighter ground, not the softer ecru and uneven printed edges of Drake's cloth. We set a one-piece soft collar to give the open camp shape, with short sleeves, a straight hem and mother of pearl buttons. Proper Cloth's options led us to a French front and chest pockets with rounded flaps, where the original has plain patch pockets.
A dark navy and white medium-scale gingham from Seabrook, woven as a 50s two-ply-free broadcloth with a smooth surface and no visible texture. It is very light and cool in the hand, holds up well to regular washing, and suits warm weather.
