Navy Cotton-Linen Camp Collar Three Pocket Short Sleeve Shirt
This is a short-sleeved summer shirt with an open camp collar, part of the long line of holiday shirts that have gone by many names over the decades. Drake's keeps the form simple: a neat collar worn open, a plain front, a square hem and three patch pockets. It is made in Somerset from a light blend of cotton and linen, and is meant to be worn untucked in hot weather.
In Proper Cloth
Portuguese Navy Cotton and Linen Oxford
We chose a solid navy cotton and linen cloth from a Portuguese mill to match the colour and fibre mix of the original as closely as Proper Cloth's range allowed. We set a soft one-piece collar to give the open camp shape, with a French front, short sleeves, a straight hem and natural corozo buttons, as on the original. Proper Cloth's design options gave us a single rounded patch pocket rather than the original's three pockets, so we chose one rounded chest pocket to keep the same pocket shape.
A navy oxford woven in Portugal from 55% cotton and 45% linen in 38s yarns, at a medium weight. The linen gives a slight slub and some surface texture, and the oxford weave makes it more opaque and firmer in hand than most cotton and linen blends. It should soften and develop character with washing.
