Indigo Stripe Cotton Mandarin Collar Popover Shirt
Drake's makes this popover shirt at its factory in Somerset from a Japanese cotton woven with indigo stripes. It pairs a band collar with a partial front placket and an angled map pocket on the chest, a pocket shape taken from older workwear and utility shirts. The body is cut relaxed so the shirt can be worn untucked with chinos or shorts. It can also go under a summer suit or with odd jackets.

Stanton 120s Navy Bengal Stripe
We chose a navy and white bengal stripe because its narrow stripe comes close to the scale of the original's pencil stripes, though the cloth is smooth broadcloth rather than a slubby yarn-dyed weave. We kept the main design points: a grandad collar, a popover front, an angled chest pocket, a straight hem and mother-of-pearl buttons. The original has plain straight-hem cuffs, which were not among the options available here, so we used soft one-button barrel cuffs and left out the sleeve placket button to keep the sleeve simple.
The Stanton is a European-woven broadcloth in 120s two-ply cotton. It is very light, with a smooth, crisp hand and almost no surface texture. Its even navy and white bengal stripe is a little wider than a pencil stripe. The cloth creases more readily than a twill or pinpoint, but it irons well and can be worn washed and unpressed.

- Care
- Their light weight tends to make them more prone to wrinkling than twills or pinpoints, however broadcloths iron up nicely and can even be worn washed without ironing for a more casual look. Finish: No Treatment.
