Light Blue Cotton Chambray Button-Down Shirt
This is Drake's long-sleeved button-down shirt in light blue cotton chambray, a cloth that began as workwear and became a staple of casual tailoring over the last hundred years. It is made at the company's factory in Somerset with single-needle seams and contrast stitching. The collar has a brushed interlining that floats free of the cloth, so it rolls softly rather than sitting flat. The cut is regular, and the shirt is meant to sit between a tailored jacket and weekend clothes.

Portuguese Light Wash Indigo Slub Chambray
We chose a Portuguese light wash indigo chambray because its faded blue is the closest match to the pale tone of the original. Its slub yarns give a more uneven, worn-in surface than Drake's plain chambray, and the cloth is heavier. We set a soft Ivy button-down collar so the collar rolls, a soft front placket, one-button cuffs, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. Proper Cloth's options did not include a mitred flap pocket or a back box pleat, so we chose an angled open pocket and a split yoke.
A 100% cotton chambray woven in Portugal from 20s yarns, with an indigo warp across a white weft and a light wash that leaves the blue soft and faded. Slub yarns give the surface an irregular, almost hand-spun texture. It is medium heavyweight, breathes well and softens with washing.
