Bright Pink Cotton Oxford Cloth Button-Down Shirt
Drake's treats the oxford cloth button-down as central to its range, and this version in bright pink is cut and sewn at its own factory in Somerset. The design keeps to the long-established American form, with a regular silhouette, a box pleat at the back and a collar built with a brushed floating interlining so that it rolls softly rather than lying flat. Single-needle seams and whipped mother of pearl buttons finish it. It is intended to work across a wide range of settings, from tailoring to more casual clothes.
In Proper Cloth
Clark Light Pink Oxford Cloth
We chose a solid pink Pima cotton oxford from Proper Cloth, as it is the nearest available match in weave and fibre, although its shade is lighter than the original's bright pink. To recreate the soft roll of the collar we set the Soft Ivy button-down collar with a soft front placket and a soft one-button cuff, and matched the long sleeves, single chest pocket, curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. The cloth on offer is a heavy oxford rather than a midweight one, and the pocket is angled rather than a plain patch, with a split yoke added.
A light pink oxford woven from Pima cotton in a 40/1 by 21/2 construction, giving a heavier cloth with noticeable substance that is not overly thick. It is a plain solid colour and is made to be hard-wearing, softening with washing and wear.
