Blue Cotton Chambray Two-Pocket Work Shirt
Drake's work shirt takes the plain blue chambray shirt of outdoor labour and gives it the finish of the firm's town shirting. It is cut from a sturdy cotton chambray with two pleated chest pockets closed by buttoned flaps, a spread collar and rounded single-button cuffs. It is sewn with single-needle seams and mother of pearl buttons in Somerset, and is meant for casual wear, from garden work to days by the sea.

Portuguese Light Wash Indigo Slub Chambray
We chose a light wash indigo chambray from Portugal for its pale blue tone and the worn, workaday character that suits a utility shirt. We set a soft English spread collar, soft one-button barrel cuffs, a front placket, safari pockets with pleats and button flaps, and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth offers this cloth only in a slubbed version, so the surface is more irregular than Drake's, and we accepted a shallow curved hem and split yoke where the original has a straight hem.
A 100% cotton chambray woven in Portugal from 20s yarns, with an indigo warp crossed by a white weft and given a light wash so the blue reads soft and faded from new. Slub yarns give the face an uneven, slightly hand-spun texture, and at a medium heavy weight it has some body yet breathes well and softens with washing.

It’s woven in Portugal from 100% cotton, breathes easily, and softens with every wash. Tuck it into khaki chinos under a waxed field jacket, or wear it open over a white tee with rinse-wash denim. Finish: No Treatment.
