Light Blue Linen Spread Collar Shirt
Drake's made this shirt for warm weather, in a plain light blue linen woven in Como for the company and sewn in Somerset. It follows the house shirting pattern: a spread collar, single-needle seams and mother of pearl buttons, cut to a regular fit. The linen is expected to crease and soften in colour with wear. It can be worn loose over shorts or chinos, or with a summer suit or odd jacket and trousers.

Light Blue Washed Linen
We chose a washed light blue linen in a plain weave because it is close to the original in fibre, weight and colour, and its uneven shade and slubby surface give the relaxed look of a well-worn linen. We matched the spread collar, one-button barrel cuffs, front placket, single chest pocket, curved hem and mother of pearl buttons, and used soft unfused construction to keep the collar and cuffs pliable, much like Drake's floating interlining. Proper Cloth washes this cloth after the shirt is sewn, so the seams pucker a little from the start. We chose an angled patch pocket and a split yoke from the options available.
A lightweight single-ply linen spun from 14s yarn and woven in a plain, open weave. It is slubby to the touch and dyed a light blue that varies noticeably in shade. Because it is washed after sewing it feels soft and broken in, and like any linen it creases readily as it is worn.
