Blue Fine Stripe Linen Spread Collar Shirt
A lightweight summer shirt in pure linen, cut from a fine blue and white stripe woven in Como and sewn in Somerset. It follows the house approach to shirting, with a spread collar, single-needle seams and mother of pearl buttons, and a soft brushed interlining that lets the collar and cuffs move freely rather than sit stiff. The cloth is expected to soften, crease and fade with wear. It suits both casual dress, worn loose over shorts or chinos, and warm-weather tailoring.

Baird McNutt Light Blue Wide Stripe Irish Linen
We chose a lightweight plain-weave Irish linen from Baird McNutt in a light blue and white stripe, because it keeps the original's fibre, weight and slubby linen texture. Proper Cloth had no direct match for the fine stripe, so we accepted a wider stripe in a similar blue. We matched the spread collar, front placket, one-button barrel cuffs, single chest pocket and mother of pearl buttons, and used soft constructions in collar and cuffs to come close to the unfused, relaxed feel of the original's floating interlining. The pocket is Proper Cloth's angled style closed by one button, not a plain open patch.
A 100% linen plain weave woven and finished by Baird McNutt in Northern Ireland, lightweight and spun from 26s yarns. It has a soft hand with linen's usual irregular slub, and a light blue stripe on white set wider than the original's. It should crease readily and soften with washing, as linen does.
