Sky Blue and White Bengal Stripe Spread Collar Cotton Poplin Shirt
This is a long-sleeved shirt in sky blue and white Bengal stripe poplin, made at Drake's own factory in Somerset. The Bengal stripe is a long-established shirting pattern, bolder than a pencil or hairline stripe, and it sits easily in both formal and casual dress. Drake's cuts it with a medium spread collar on a brushed floating interlining, a box pleat at the back and rounded single-button cuffs, so that it holds its shape under a tie and stays soft enough to wear open. It suits a suit in the week as readily as chinos or denim at the weekend.

Thomas Mason Light Blue Bengal Stripe Broadcloth
We chose a Thomas Mason Bengal stripe in light blue and white because it comes closest to the original's colour, stripe width and smooth plain weave. The cloth is a 100s two-ply Egyptian cotton broadcloth, a little lighter than the original, but with the same crisp, slightly lustrous surface. We matched the spread collar, front placket, one-piece yoke, single-button cuffs and mother of pearl buttons, and specified a soft collar to come close to the original's floating interlining. Proper Cloth's barrel cuff and shallow curved hem are the nearest options to Drake's rounded cuff and shirt-tail hem, and no back box pleat is listed in the design as made.
A broadcloth from the Italian mill Thomas Mason, woven from 100s two-ply Egyptian cotton in a very light weight. It is smooth and crisp with a quiet sheen and carries a light blue and white Bengal stripe. It irons quickly to a sharp finish and can be worn creased for a more casual look.
