Sky Blue Bengal Stripe Cotton Poplin Button-Down Shirt
This is a long-sleeved button-down shirt in a lightweight cotton poplin with a sky blue and white Bengal stripe, made at Drake's factory in Somerset. It follows the long tradition of the striped button-down, a shirt that suits the office and the weekend equally well. The collar has a brushed interlining that floats rather than being fused, which keeps the roll soft. The back has a box pleat and a split inner yoke under a one-piece outer yoke, and the shirt can be worn with tailoring or more casual clothes.

Thomas Mason Light Blue Bengal Stripe Broadcloth
We chose a Thomas Mason broadcloth in a light blue Bengal stripe because its colour, stripe width and smooth, lightly lustrous surface come closest to the Drake's poplin. We matched the main details: a button-down collar, a one-button barrel cuff, a front placket, a single chest pocket, a split yoke, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. We set the collar, cuffs and placket in soft constructions to come near the unfused feel of the original. Proper Cloth offers an angled pocket rather than a point pocket, so we used that, and the order does not record a box pleat or whipped 18L buttons.
A very lightweight plain-weave broadcloth from Thomas Mason, woven from 100s two-ply Egyptian cotton. It is smooth and crisp to the touch, with a medium-width light blue and white Bengal stripe. It presses cleanly for a sharp finish but can also be worn creased for a more relaxed look.
