Light Blue Bengal Stripe Cotton Poplin Button-Down Shirt
A light blue and white bengal stripe button-down, made in Drake's own shirt factory in Somerset. It belongs to the long tradition of the striped Oxford-cut shirt in a finer cloth: a smooth, lightweight poplin with a slight sheen. The collar has a brushed interlining that floats rather than being fused, so it rolls softly, and the back has a box pleat. It is meant to sit equally well under a jacket on a working day and on its own at the weekend.
In Proper Cloth
Stanton 120s Light Blue Bengal Stripe
We chose Proper Cloth's Stanton 120s two-ply broadcloth in the same light blue and white bengal stripe. Broadcloth and poplin are both fine, smooth plain weaves, so the cloth keeps the original's clean surface and light weight. We matched the button-down collar, single-button cuffs, front placket, curved hem and mother of pearl buttons, with soft collar, placket and cuffs to stay close to the unfused feel of the original. Proper Cloth offers an angled pocket rather than a point pocket, so we used that, and the shirt is made with a split yoke.
A European-woven cotton broadcloth in 120s two-ply yarns. It is very light, smooth and crisp, with almost no visible texture, and the stripe is light blue on white, slightly wider than a pencil stripe. It creases more readily than a twill or pinpoint but presses well, and can be worn unironed for a more relaxed look.

- Their light weight tends to make them more prone to wrinkling than twills or pinpoints, however broadcloths iron up nicely and can even be worn washed without ironing for a more casual look. Finish: No Treatment.
