Indigo Canvas Two-Pocket Western Shirt
Drake's takes the Western shirt, a garment born of ranch work, and gives it a more careful finish. It is made in Italy from indigo-dyed cotton canvas with single-needle seams, edge-stitched pointed yokes, twin flap pockets and mother of pearl buttons. The cloth is chosen to last and to fade gradually, so the shirt is meant to be worn often, on its own or as a light overshirt, and to soften with age.

Portuguese Dark Wash Indigo Oxford
We looked for a solid indigo cotton of similar weight and settled on a garment-washed oxford from Portugal, since Proper Cloth does not offer an indigo canvas; it gives a comparable depth of colour and will fade at the seams in a similar way. We kept the Western front, yokes and pockets, the edge stitching, the curved hem and the mother of pearl buttons. Proper Cloth has no long spearpoint collar or two-button pointed barrel cuff, so we chose a soft point collar and a soft one-button barrel cuff with adjustable buttons.
A Portuguese cotton oxford heavily dyed with indigo, then given a light bleach wash once the shirt is sewn, so it arrives a fairly even dark blue with a broken-in hand. It is medium weight with some heft, and its open weave breathes well. With wear it fades around the seams in a pattern that follows the body.

- A light bleach wash allows the deep indigo coloring to come out of the box fairly uniform. From sourcing the perfect denim from Japan and Europe to testing washes with our factory for months on end, we labor over every detail of our washed indigo shirts. After being cut and sewn, the shirts are then garment washed using either a light enzyme, soda, or bleaching process. While garment washed indigo and denim shirts are a popular product in the ready-to-wear market, they haven‘t previously been available in a custom fit or design due to the bulk production required for the washing process.
