Drake's by A. Levine Denim Button-Down Shirt

A limited-edition denim button-down made by Drake's in collaboration with Aaron Levine, the American designer. It returns to the familiar indigo button-down, with a few small refinements rather than a new design. The cloth is an 8oz Japanese denim with linen blended in for breathability and drape. The shirt is cut on a relaxed block with a soft, rolling collar and is meant for regular everyday wear. It is made in Portugal.

Portuguese Slate Wash Indigo Chambray

We chose a slate-washed indigo chambray from Portugal for its colour, since its washed indigo comes closest to the faded blue of the original. Proper Cloth offered no cotton and linen denim to match, so we accepted a pure cotton chambray in its place. We matched the main details: a soft unfused button-down collar, a one-piece yoke, a single-button cuff, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. The box pleat at the yoke and the relaxed block do not appear in the design as made.

The chambray is a Portuguese pure cotton in 20s yarns. It is soft and smooth, of medium weight, and has been through an indigo slate wash that gives the solid blue some variation of tone. It sits between workwear chambray and a dress shirting, and it wears well both tucked in and loose.
