Grey Cotton Flannel Button-Down Shirt
This is Drake's button-down shirt cut in a brushed grey cotton flannel for the colder months. The button-down collar has been central to the house since its early days, and here it has a brushed, floating interlining so the collar rolls softly. The shirt is made in the Somerset factory with single-needle seams, a regular silhouette and a breast pocket with a pen holder. It is meant to be worn with autumn and winter cloths such as corduroy, Shetland knitwear and tweed.

Canclini Grey Melange Twill Beacon Flannel
We chose Canclini's grey melange Beacon flannel because it is a solid grey, brushed, all-cotton flannel, which keeps the colour and soft surface of the original. We set a soft unfused button-down collar, a front placket, a single chest pocket, a one-button cuff, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons to follow the Drake's details. Proper Cloth's options do not include a pen-holder pocket, so we used its angled patch pocket. The cloth is a heavier twill rather than a midweight flannel, so the shirt is warmer and denser in the hand.
A heavyweight brushed cotton flannel woven by Canclini near Lake Como from 50s two-ply yarns. It has a twill weave and a grey melange colour, with flecks of lighter and darker grey that give the solid some depth. The hand is soft and dense, and the cloth is substantial enough to wear as a light overshirt or under knitwear.
