Light Green Ticking Stripe Cotton Oxford Cloth Button-Down Shirt
A button-down shirt in light green and white ticking stripe oxford, cut to Drake's regular silhouette and made at the company's own factory in Somerset. The oxford button-down has been a staple of men's dress for about a hundred years, and Drake's treats it as a core piece of its range. This version keeps to the classic pattern, with a soft, rolling collar held by a brushed floating interlining and stitched with a single needle throughout. It is meant to sit comfortably anywhere from tailoring to weekend clothes.
In Proper Cloth
Clark Green University Stripe Oxford Cloth
We chose a green and white striped oxford in 100% cotton because it keeps the colouring and the plain, slightly textured weave of the original. Proper Cloth had no fine ticking stripe in this colour, so we used a university stripe and accepted that it reads somewhat bolder, on a heavier cloth than Drake's midweight. We matched the soft button-down collar, one-button barrel cuffs, front placket, single chest pocket, curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. Where Proper Cloth's options differed, we chose an angled pocket and a split yoke.
A heavy oxford woven from Pima cotton in 40s 2-ply yarns. It has a substantial hand without being thick. The pattern is a green and white university stripe, and the cloth is resilient and softens with repeated washing and wear.
