Grey Cotton Flannel Two-Pocket Work Shirt
Drake's two-pocket work shirt borrows from the plain utility shirts made for outdoor labour and brings them into ordinary town dress. This version is cut from a solid grey brushed cotton flannel and made in Somerset. It has a spread collar, pleated button-flap chest pockets that take small items out of the trouser pockets, and rounded single-button cuffs, all sewn with the single-needle construction Drake's uses across its shirting. It is meant to be worn loosely, on its own or as a light layer, for weekends and casual days.

Canclini Grey Melange Twill Beacon Flannel
We chose a brushed cotton flannel from Canclini in a grey melange because it is the closest Proper Cloth match to the original's soft grey and its brushed hand. We set a soft spread collar, pleated flap chest pockets, a single-button cuff, a front placket, a shallow curved hem and natural corozo buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth offers a barrel cuff rather than Drake's rounded cuff, so we used a soft one-button barrel cuff instead. The cloth is a twill and is heavier than the original's midweight flannel, which gives a slightly denser shirt.
A 100% cotton flannel woven by Canclini near Lake Como in Italy, made from 50s two-ply yarn in a twill weave and heavily brushed for a soft, dense hand. The colour is a varied grey melange that looks solid from a distance, and the cloth is heavyweight and sturdy, suited to cold-weather wear as a shirt or a light overlayer.
