Green Narrow Stripe Cotton Poplin Button-Down Shirt
Drake's makes this shirt at its own factory in Somerset, using a lightweight cotton poplin with a narrow green and white stripe. It follows the house pattern for a button-down: a long-pointed collar with a brushed interlining left floating rather than fused, single-needle seams and a regular cut. The stripe and the soft collar let it go with tailoring or be worn on its own with casual trousers, depending on the occasion.

Stanton 120s Green Bengal Stripe
We chose a green and white bengal stripe in a 120s two-ply cotton broadcloth, because it is the closest match in colour, stripe scale and smooth, light hand to the Drake's poplin. We set a soft button-down collar, a soft one-button cuff, a front placket, a single chest pocket, a split yoke, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth does not offer Drake's exact point pocket, so we used its angled pocket as the nearest option. The barrel cuff stands in for the rounded single-button cuff, and the design as made does not list a back box pleat.
A European-woven cotton broadcloth from Proper Cloth's Stanton range, spun from 120s two-ply yarns, very light in weight and smooth and crisp to the touch. It has a dark green and white bengal stripe a little wider than a pencil stripe, with almost no surface texture. Being so light, it creases more easily than a twill or pinpoint, but it irons well and can also be worn unironed after washing.
