Green and White Bengal Stripe Spread Collar Cotton Poplin Shirt
A long-sleeved shirt in a smooth cotton poplin, cut with a spread collar and patterned with a narrow green and white bengal stripe. It belongs to the long English tradition of striped town shirts, where a clear, evenly spaced stripe gives a plain cloth some character without making it loud. It is made in the house's own Somerset factory, with a floating interlining in the collar, a box pleat at the back and mother of pearl buttons. It is intended to suit a working week as readily as a weekend, worn with or without a tie.

Stanton 120s Green Bengal Stripe
We chose a European-woven 120s two-ply broadcloth in a dark green and white bengal stripe, because it matches the original's plain, smooth weave, light weight and narrow stripe scale closely. We set a soft spread collar, a front placket, a one-button cuff, no pocket, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth offers a barrel cuff and a one-piece yoke here, so the cuff shape and the split inner yoke of the original are not reproduced exactly, and the softer collar construction stands in for the brushed floating interlining.
A 120s two-ply cotton broadcloth woven in Europe, very light in weight, with a smooth, crisp hand and almost no visible texture. The stripe is a dark green and white bengal, a little wider than a pencil stripe. Like most broadcloths it creases more readily than a twill or pinpoint, but it irons well and can be worn unironed for a softer look.
